I am ready for the Rainbow........

We all go through seasons of "rain" in our lives. I have been going through not only rain, but killer thunderstorms. Some days it would just sprinkle, but some days, it rained so hard that I can't see my way through. God allows things to happen in our lives to get our attention. Sometimes, we wallow in our "rain" and that is what I was doing.........wallowing. What a word! Today, God has given me such a peace that I am through with the rain. That was yesterday. Today is a new day on a new page of a new chapter in my life. When old memories of the past present themselves, you can stop and cry and wallow, or you can smile and move on. I choose to smile and move on. Wallowing is a choice. I choose not to wallow anymore. I choose to move on. I will look at the rain differently now. The next time you see a rainbow after a thunderstorm, stop and thank God for that rainbow. Thank Him for the promise that He gave to us to never flood the earth.. Thank Him for never giving you more than you can handle.

I am ready for my rainbow........

Bring The Rain - MercyMe

We all experience "rain" in our lives......but we know that at the end of the rain, comes the rainbow and the sunshine again....

In Hebrews, Jesus says........."Never will I leave you, Never will I forsake you"....

I am not alone - Natalie Grant

My Tank

Went to church tonight and learned some new things about myself. The minister talked about priorities in life. He talked about how we each have a tank. There are three lines on your tank. When it gets a little low to the first mark, we tend to get anxious or have an anxiety attack. When it gets to the second mark in reference to draining, we could have an emotional break down. When it gets really low, or to the third mark, we could possibly have a nervous breakdown. We have to identify what fills our tank and what drains our tank. What are the things in your life that fill your tank? Mine are acting silly with my kids, quilting, singing, helping others and special time with my friends. The things that drain my tank are working 2 jobs and not having any time off, and arguing with my kids. When we can prioritize our lives and only focus on what absolutely has to get done, then we can have balance in our lives and keep our tank full.

Sometimes God allows our tanks to get dangerously low to see what is really important in our lives and to fill it back up with His love and the things that really matter. He allows things to happen in our life to get our attention and to take our eyes off of us and to place them back on Him!

I needed that lesson.

Yes, we have a new friend in our back yard...........a SNAKE!!! I don't know what kind it was and didn't want to find out. The only good snake is a DEAD SNAKE.

Ok, I am no stinkin snake expert, but after looking on the internet, I think this looks like a RATTLESNAKE!!! Ok, now I think it was a copperhead!

Game Night

The kids and I had so much fun last night. We made individual pizzas with biscuits, ranch dressing, pre-cooked fajita chicken and cheese...And I had to make chocolate chip cookies. I bought the game, Life and they loved it. They even tolerated me listening to Frank Sinatra music while we played.

Daddy's Pipe.........

I have really had my Father on my mind alot. My brother and I have been talking about him a lot the last week. The weirdest thing has been happening to me. I wouldn't have believed it had it not happened to me personally. I can smell my Father's pipe every once in a while. I can be sitting in my house and I smell it. I can be driving in the car and smell it. I can be walking into a store and smell it. No one around me is smoking a pipe! I stop and ask anyone around me if they can smell it and they cannot. It is so very weird. I have not smelled that scent since I was a kid. It has a distinct scent. I feel such peace when I smell it. I feel like he is letting me know from Heaven that he is here with me during some things that I am going through.

You will just have to wait to see what it looks like and oh, I forgot.......I am the one that picked it out and she loved it.

Labor Day - 2007

Today we went to my Mom and Step Dad's home at Lake Livingston. We had a great time. The kids looked at my great grandmother's stereograph. My Mom thinks that it is from the early to middle 1800's. This is the original one with the original cards to look at. The kids really enjoyed looking at it. Then my Step Dad brought the little truck thing that he built from his shop. He built it from the ground up. He is so smart. He could build anything! He used a lawn mower engine. The kids got the biggest kick out of it. It was a great day!

Denver Montage

More Denver Mission Trip pictures...........We have the very best kids in our youth group and the very best leaders. Both of my kids went on this youth choir mission trip in June. On the way up, they stopped at the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. While in the Denver area, they held Vacation Bible Schools in two different churches. On the way back they stopped back in Oklahoma City and sang the National Anthem at the Oklahoma City Redhawks game. What an awesome experience for everyone. I remember the two big trips that I got to go on as a teenager in Albuquerque. One year, we went to San Diego for 2 weeks and one year we went to Durango for a week. I will never, ever forget those trips and I am thankful that my kids are making some wonderful memories as well.

Go Astros!!!!

Last night we got some awesome tickets to the Astros Game. We were the 6th row up from the Astros dug out. We could see perfectly and could have talked to the players if we wanted to. The family in front of us were L.A. Dodgers fans from California. The little guy in the Dodgers hat kept us entertained all night. The little boy sitting in his fathers lap did something really funny. A fly ball came our way and a college kid caught it and gave it to the little guy. The little boy threw it back to the players! It was priceless. They did get the ball back for him. Our youth group also went to the game last night. Dodgers won, but the game was really fun because we were able to sit so close.

The First Moonwalk - Complete and Original Version

38 years ago today.......I will never forget this day, because I was 6 years old and my brother was 5. We were running and playing and being loud through the house while my father was trying to watch this on the t.v. He begged us to be quiet and being 6 and 5 we didn't obey. He screamed at us and put his fist in the wall. He really didn't have a bad temper at all, but he knew that this was history in the making and we wouldn't be quiet so that is my memory of the first moonwalk and a fist shaped hole in our hall wall.

This butterfly was in my yard just now as I went out to get the mail. I put my finger down for it to crawl on. It tickled so I let go. Not too bad of a picture taken with my cell phone. Isn't it beautiful? It is one of the largest butterflies that I have seen.

4th of July 2007

We had a great day. We had a little parade in our neighborhood like we do every year. It rained pretty hard during this one, I am afraid. We met at the pool for hot dogs. Then we went to our church to see the Imperials in concert. They were incredible! I remember seeing the original Imperials in concert back in the 70's in Albuquerque. I still remembered all of the old songs! One of these pictures is of Amy and the lead singer, Shannon Smith. The kids got all of their autographs. Then we watched fireworks in the parking lot. It was a great day.

Truth or Consequences

Truth or Consequences is a spa city in Sierra County, New Mexico, United States, and the county seat of Sierra CountyGR6. As of the 2000 census, the population was 7,289. It is commonly known within New Mexico as T or C.

Originally called "Hot Springs", it took the name of a popular radio program in 1950, when Truth or Consequences host Ralph Edwards announced that he would do the program from the first town that renamed itself after the show. Ralph Edwards came to the town during the first weekend of May for the next fifty years. This event was called the "Fiesta" and included a beauty contest, parade, and a stage show.

Jeff and I were born in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Funny but true story....

The kids are doing just great! They held Vacation Bible School at two different churches. Amy was at one church helping with music, while Johnny was at another church helping with recreation. They said that the weather was just beautiful. Today is a play day at a really cool park in Breckenridge. Amy called me at lunch and said that she and a friend were on a ski lift. I told her that I have skiied at Breckenridge. Then she called me later and said that they took another lift to the top of the mountain and had to stay in a lodge and could not get back on the lift for a while because it was lightning.

come to Uganda and work along side of Him.

Planning a Reunion

I worked at a bank about 20 years ago and made some of the very best friends that I will ever have. We were a family. We played volleyball after work, went out together, laughed together and cried together. I took a different job in another department in the bank and then was transferred to Dallas. I had some wonderful career opportunities while I was there and ended up in management when I left to move back to Houston. A few days ago, I was playing on Google and decided to type in a few of those names to see what happened to them. I found one of my very best friends in Florida and another in Michigan. I started contacting people and now we are going to have a Gibraltar Reunion! Each person had kept in touch with a couple of people over these last 20 years and now we have a list of about 20 people that are invited. I am more excited about this reunion than I ever was about any of my high school reunions! I am going to put a book together with where everyone is now and what they have been doing and their fondest memories.............I just can't wait for September to get here.

Baby got burned....

Johnny got back from Middle School camp with one of the worst sunburns that I have ever seen! Of course he had sun screen, but did not reapply it. His eyelids were swollen when I picked him up Friday. He had such a great time, in spite of it. He played some awesome games, went swimming and went canoeing and saw an alligator!

Lazy Puppy

This is true laziness.......

While the rest of us were cleaning house on Saturday, my lazy dog, Spring takes a nap....

Flicka

Watched this movie last night. It was great. I love horses. I have been horse back riding in New Mexico and Colorado when I was a teenager and it makes me want to go again.

I can't stand country music, but this song made me cry, because it made me think of my Dad. I was such a Daddy's girl and I really miss him.
