Special Needs children

I schedule meetings for the Special Services Department at three different elementary schools. I go in and out of classrooms and have been around some precious children. Today, I was asked to watch a special needs child while his parents met with teachers and specialists. He was about 10 years old. He is mentally retarded and has trouble speaking and some other needs. He would touch my arm and point and make words to communicate. He loves the chairs in the room with wheels. I pushed him around and then he pushed me around! What a sweet baby! I so admire these wonderful teachers and specialists that we have that work with these specials gifts from God. I used to be nervous around children with special needs. Now when I go into their room, I go over and touch each of them and look into their eyes and say hello. They look up at me and smile with a smile that will melt your heart. They don't look like we do, but they respond to kindness and love like we do. I am so thankful that I have this job and how God has opened my eyes to these beautiful children.
