Spring Break - The River Walk in San Antonio
Spring Break - Sea World.......
If you have never been to Sea World, you simply must go! It was better than I thought it would be! We stayed there about 10 hours! It was so worth it! We will never forget it!
Spring Break - Visiting Friends...
We went to see our best friends, The Peeples. Troy is the Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Gunter, Texas.....north of Dallas. It is a wonderful church. I couldn't be more proud of him. We miss him, Torrie and the girls so much, but know that is exactly where God wants them. We had the best visit with them. We laughed until we cried and enjoyed our time so much with them.

Great Job, Johnny!!!!!
Johnny is in the symphonic band at his school. He and 6 other french horn playing classmates performed a song for an ensemble contest and they all got ribbons for being "exemplary".... the top rating!
Way to go, Johnny!!!!!
I am so very proud of both of my children! Not only for the things that they have accomplished, but for who they are. They both love the Lord and love people. I am truly blessed!

Great Job, Amy!!!!!
Amy had a singing contest a few days ago at the school. She had to sing a solo for judges. She has been taking private singing lessons. After the audition thingy, her voice teacher called and said that she got the highest marks that you can receive.......WAY TO GO, AMY!!!! I am so proud of her!!!! She has a beautiful voice.
Just like kids...
Sick of cat stories, yet? Too bad. I get a kick out of these two! That cat puts up with a lot, obviously! Spring is just too curious. And what is up with sniffing? We don't do that when we meet someone new! Is that taken as a friendly gesture? Ok, so I am in a really goofy mood.

Quilt of Holes..
Quilt of Holes
As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt before the Lord along with
all the other souls.
Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles;
an angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life.
But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged
and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in every day life. I saw hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all.
I glanced around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole
here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened.
My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and
empty, like binding air.
Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the
light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose; each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise.
My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn't had all the earthly
fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and wealth, and false accusations that took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to somehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I
spent many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully, each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged me.
And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to
accept it for what it was. I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light.
An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared
at me with wide eyes.
Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes,
creating an image, the face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes.
He said, "Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My hardships, and My struggles.
Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let Me shine
through, until there was more of Me than there was of you."

I don't even like cats......
There is a new neighborhood cat. We don't know what his real name is.......We named him "Blackey" He acts like a dog, because he is very affectionate. He has a funny meow and hangs out at our house. We have let him in the backyard with our dog, Spring. He just lays there. He would come in the house if I would let him. Amy and I are highly allergic to cats, but not this one. He doesn't shed. I tell him every day that I don't like cats as I pet him and he purrs. He doesn't seem to care. I have really grown quite attached to him.

Old Movies......
I have been on a kick taping old movies. I watched......"Love Letters" last night. It was in black and white and starred Jennifer Jones and Joseph Cotten. It was filmed in 1945. It was about love letters written by a soldier in WWII......On the Turner Classic Movie channel they have a ton of great old movies. I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's not too long ago and a 3 hour movie all about Audrey Hepburn. My kids will sit down and watch them with me too. Get out the recorder and tape some old classic movies!

Then and Now....
Found this picture recently............This older picture was taken in the early 70's at our house in Albuquerque with me and my brother, Jeff standing by the hutch and buffet. The other picture was taken this past Christmas. Isn't it funny how even furniture holds so many wonderful memories of your childhood.

Harlem Globetrotters!

Today we took the kids to see the Harlem Globetrotters at the Toyota Center. They were great!!! Afterward, both kids got Matt Jackson's autograph. Amy took the picture of Johnny with Matt with her cell phone! I got to see the Globetrotters in the 70's when I was a kid when they came to Albuquerque. That was when Meadowlark Lemon and "Curly" Neal were playing.
