Things that we take for granted...

In the past, I have to admit that I have taken air conditioning for granted. Not any more! Our AC started acting up last night about 9:00, so we shut it off. The AC people were out about 1:00 this afternoon and left around 3:00. It was a burned out motor and thank goodness that we have a home warranty. It is the original unit from when the house was new back in the mid 1970's! They did say that the AC won't last very much longer. It was in the 90's outside and it was 85 in the house. As long as I was under a ceiling fan, it wasn't too bad. However, when the AC guys were here, they had to have all of the power off the entire time and it was almost unbearable.

I kept thinking during the stifling heat that our parents didn't have air conditioning growing up. I honestly don't know how they did it! They did not have a choice, obviously, but it made me appreciate electricity and my air conditioning.
